A short exercise to start using Augmented Reality.

In order to make technology simple and focus on the content, we will be using ARTiVIVE – “An easy-to-use augmented reality tool for enhancing creative experiences”

In order to optimize the short time dedicated to this first practical introduction to Augmented Reality, I strongly suggest each participant to
register in advance HERE (free account)
download the ARTiVIVE app to the mobile device
– if possible, bring a digital file that will be the marker and the digital content that you would like to overlay (“augment” :))

Compatible file types .jpg and .png files for images and any video files (eg .mp4, .gif, .MOV). For 3D objects, the files compatible are glTF and GLB.

Turorial by the Visual Arts Education master student Afonso Neves:
Part I introduces the basic features of Artivive and gives a practical demonstration of its applications. Afonso’s artwork “Vertigo” is the reference for this stage. Its characteristics facilitated the instruction of methodologists in differentiating planes and balancing the notions of depth and scale.

In Part II of the tutorial, a more complex artwork, “2.5 D_face”, challenges the skills acquired in Part I and encourages to explore new approaches to using the tool features.
